Sunflower seeds need to be cleaned before entering the production line to remove impurities such as leaves, branches, deflated seeds, and empty shells. This can be done with equipment such as vibrating screens, magnetic separators, stone removers, etc. Removing impurities can improve the purity of sunflower oil.
After cleaning, sunflower seeds need to be shelled and crushed. The shells are crushed to release the kernels. The kernels are then crushed to break the sunflower seeds into smaller particles. This will increase the oil yield during the oil extraction process.
After crushing, the sunflower seeds are rolled in a press, which speeds up the oil yield. After that, the sunflower seeds are steamed using steam, adjusting the temperature of heating and the time of steaming. Adjust the heating temperature and cooking time to soften the kernel for subsequent oil extraction.
After steaming, the sunflower seeds enter the oil press for pressing. Pressing is divided into hot pressing and cold pressing. The press extracts the oil from the sunflower seeds using high pressure and high temperature. The extracted crude oil contains impurities and sediments, which need to be further filtered and purified.
The extraction method uses chemical solvents to dissolve the oil in sunflower seeds, and then evaporates the solvent by heating and evaporation to obtain the oil. This method has an oil yield of up to 99% and high production efficiency.The oil obtained by the extraction method is clear in color and has fewer impurities, which is suitable for a variety of food processing and cooking needs. Due to the high oil yield, the production cost of the extraction method is relatively low, and the price of the oil is more affordable.
Sunflower crude oil obtained from pressing usually also needs to undergo refining treatment, including hydration (degumming), alkaline refining (deacidification), decoloration, deodorization, and dewaxing steps. The impurities and off-flavors of sunflower oil are removed to further improve the quality and stability of the oil. After refining, sunflower oil can be sold in the market as finished oil.
After sunflower oil is deodorized, some waxes will also remain. We can remove the waxes by lowering the temperature of the sunflower oil (usually to below 0°C). Sunflower oil is fed into a crystallization tank and cooled for 8 hours to crystallize and precipitate the waxy components of the oil. The waxes are then separated from the oil by filtration and other methods. This step improves the clarity and low-temperature fluidity of the oil. The final oil is premium sunflower oil, which can be consumed directly.
After above processes, edible refined sunflower oil is produced and can be sale in the market. Generally, edible oil can be packed in PET barrels, glass bottles, tin barrels and so on. Nowadays, cooking oil is generally packaged in PET, which requires low cost and is environmentally friendly. Finished soybean oil packaging machines can be selected according to the output of soybean oil processing plant.
In sunflower oil production, the choice between mechanical pressing and solvent extraction depends on factors like plant capacity. For the sunflower oil mill plants under 50 TPD capacity, the mechanical screw oil pressing is ok. For the oil mill plants with a capacity above 50 TPD, The solvent extraction method is used together with a mechanical press.

The sunflower oil solvent extraction plant is part of the sunflower oil processing plant, which is designed to extract oil directly from pressed sunflower oil. After the sunflower oil solvent extraction plant, the residual oil content in the sunflower oil is less than 1%. The pretreated sunflower flakes are sent to the sunflower solvent extraction plant. The plant uses a type of solvent (normal hexane) to absorb the sunflower oil, and then machines separate the solvent from the crude sunflower oil. The solvent is used for recycling, and the crude sunflower oil is refined in an oil refinery plant.

D.T.D.C means desolventizer, toaster, dryer and cooler, which is mainly used to separate the solvents from the wet meal, then the dried meal will be sent to meal silo for storage.
since miscella oil contains solvents, we need to separate the solvents from the crude sunflower oil by first evaporation, second evaporation and stripping tower, then we can condensate the oil and pump it into a crude oil tank, and you can choose to sell the crude oil to the refinery factory or you can set up a sunflower oil refinery plant by yourself.
Usually producing one ton crude sunflower oil through the sunflower oil solvent extraction method needs around 4kg solvents. Considering of cost-effectives and environmental protection, we add this system to recycle the solvents by condensing it and collecting it for reuse.

Continuous Oil Refinery Plant >30TPD
Continuous Type Oil Refinery Plant is recommended against the batch refining for higher capacity plants above 30 tons per day and for oils containing higher FFA content. This process line is bit expensive than batch oil refinery process but it provides superior quality refined oil along with automation system and low processing cost. It is also a large edible oil refinery unit.
Semi-Continuous Oil Refinery 10-50TPD
The semi-continuous oil refinery process design is based on batch type but higher than batch type. Semi-continuous oil refinery process needs less investment cost. The semi-continuous oil refinery capacity can be designed according to customer requirement. It's suitable for the middle type oil refinery plant from 10TPD to 50TPD. So it is also called middle scale oil refinery unit.
