When the screw sunflower oil press machine is in operation, the processed oil seeds will automatically enter the press chamber from the hopper, and the pressing screw will rotate to make the oil seeds continuously be pushed inward for pressing.

On the label of some sunflower oil, you can see the term “expeller-pressed”. At that time, maybe you have a question-what is expeller pressed sunflower oil? Is it good or bad?
First of all, if you see that term “expeller-pressed” on the label of sunflower oil, it means it’s a good oil and worth to buy. Expeller-pressed is a method to make sunflower oil, which means sunflower oil is squeezed out of sunflower seeds only through physical extrusion method, and then remove some impurities, etc. Such method prevents high temperatures from damaging the nutrients in sunflower oil and retains more nutrients in sunflower oil.
In sunflower oil production industry, there are two methods commonly used. One is expeller pressing method and the other is solvent extraction. Generally speaking, on the lable of sunflower oil, if there isn't “expeller-pressed”, it proves that the sunflower oil is extracted by solvent extraction method. The expeller pressing method generally captures around 65% of the sunflower oil. Admittedly, create a lot of waste. Solvent extraction method can captures around 99% of the sunflower oil.

The expeller process uses a press to physically squeeze the oil out of the seed, rather than using chemicals. With this method, no solvents are used in the process, and therefore, the oil doesn't have a chance of having any hexane residue left over.
Solvent extraction is the part of the sunflower oil making process in which almost every last drop of oil is extracted from the sunflower seeds. Hexane is the most widely used solvent for this. The process begins with the pouring of hexane over the leftover cake from expeller pressing.
To sell sunflower oil to supermarkets, there are usually high requirements for the finished oil. Sunflower oilo in addition to the gross oil from the pressing and solvent extraction equipment mentioned earlier. Refining equipment is also needed to degumming, deacidification, decolorization and deodorization the crude oil. The gums, free fatty acids, pigments and odors are removed from the crude oil to improve the quality of the edible oil, respectively. After that, dewaxing equipment is needed to cool down the oil and remove the wax from the oil that is not easily digestible by humans. Finally, packaging equipment such as canning, capping, labeling and coding is needed to label the finished oil so that it can be sold in supermarkets.
